It all started with a chair…simple but true. My love for one lounge chair became the catalyst in deciding to re-fresh every room in our apartment. After all, who doesn’t want to revamp their space once in a while? Out with the old and in with the new, as the saying goes, especially in New York where space comes at a premium. No large storage for storing extras or un-used items, only to be resurrected later. Nope, once you make the leap and commit to getting something new, especially bigger pieces, it means parting with the old in NYC, so you want to make the best choices.

Like a lot of creatives, and a lot of New Yorkers, I live and work from home. Since I spend a lot of time based from home, my space is my sanctuary. My surroundings have a direct impact on how productive and creative I feel. It needs to feel light, inspiring and motivating. Our apartment is an extension of me and my esthetic, its not unusual to shoot here, use it as a backdrop to an editorial/campaign or have meetings with people popping in and out all day. My goal was to set the tone for a clean space with a monochrome color palette, with all the comforts of home but conducive to a studio-like atmosphere.

To help bring this vision for our space together, I partnered up with Rove Concepts. Working with the team at Rove, I chose thoughtful pieces that were rooted in classics but brought our space to life. The piece that inspired it all, was the iconic Flag Chair. Think effortless and uncomplicated but with maximum impact. Next, a pop of black, with twin leather chairs that have both substance and ability to anchor any room. A perfect balance of style and comfort was achieved, with a nod to instantly recognizable silhouettes and statement pieces that are timeless but have a “wow” factor.
